Dr. Jeřábek’s nomination as Villa Tugendhat Founding Ambassador to Pangea World was formalized on 6 June 2014. It celebrates the formative stage of the symbolic linkage between PANGEA WORLD’s mission to value and guard Earth’s heritage riches via bridges of knowledge and diplomacy and the World Heritage stature of Villa Tugendhat, an architectural masterpiece by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe that revolutionized the interface of human creativity and the natural environment. The creation of this honorific position accompanied the announcement of the PANGEA WORLD/Villa Tugendhat linkage—by Dr. Jeřábek and Dr. Ayala—at the PANGEA WORLD event hosted by the West Coast Headquarters of the U.S. National Academies of Sciences and Engineering on 7 February 2014 (see PANGEA WORLD unveils transnational model for science research and conservation).
